Terracing
The construction of an impressive containment wall, supporting the terrace on which the two temples stand, possibly dates back to the initial sacred area monumentalisation phase (late 3rd - early 2nd century B.C.).
The structure is around 37 metres long and approx. 3 m tall today. It was built against the earth in polygonal masonry using large blocks of worked stone, laid without any binding agent.
In the southernmost part, the construction technique is different. The more regularly shaped, parallelepiped blocks are laid in almost horizontal rows (ashlar masonry).
At present times, it is impossible to associate the two different building techniques with the different periods of the sanctuary, or link them to the holy site that preceded the present construction.
